Pneumonia is inflammation of the lungs mainly due to the action of infectious agents (viruses and bacteria) but also to smoking, exposure to toxic substances and allergic factors. It can, in more serious cases, become chronic. It manifests itself with fever, persistent cough, breathing difficulties and general malaise. It can also be associated with severe, very annoying chest pain. When this disease occurs, it is advisable first of all to resort to a diet aimed at purifying and reflaming the respiratory tract.Particularly suitable for detoxifying the lungs are garlic, onion, leeks and shallots (they can also be taken macerated in the morning on an empty stomach). These bulbs are extremely beneficial due to their allicin content. Allicin is a sulphurous substance with a powerful antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral action and can therefore act extremely effectively on the causes of this pathology. Even cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli and watercress (thanks to their sulfur content) have beneficial effects on the lungs and are able to counteract inflammation. They can also be taken in a centrifuged form combined with other vegetables (carrots, red turnips, etc. with a powerful detoxifying and anti-inflammatory action). Alternatively you can useinhalations of sulphurous water are also extremely effective against this pathology. Taking herbal teas with a high expectorant potential can also be very useful in case of pneumonia. In particular, coltsfoot, goldenseal, hyssop, clove and elderflower herbal teas are very useful. From these herbs you can also make a mixed herbal tea (which includes them all) to increase their antiseptic, disinfectant and detoxifying potential on the lungs and respiratory tract in general.
