Licorice is a plant with interesting beneficial properties for our body. In particular, it is known for its protective action on the respiratory tract and is particularly indicated in case of infections of the latter as well as in case of cough, bronchitis and pneumonia. It has a protective action on the mucous membranes of the stomach and the organs of the digestive system as a whole and also has healing properties on the same (being very useful in case of gastric or duodenal ulcers). It also has hepatoprotective properties and stimulates intestinal function (laxative properties), therefore being very useful for the correct functionality of this organ. It has hypertensive properties and is therefore useful in cases where there is a low level of blood pressure (while its use is not recommended for hypertensives). Finally, it has a powerful antioxidant action thanks to its richness in flavonoids which make it an excellent ally against the oxidizing and harmful action of free radicals in our body. It can be consumed in the form of sticks or in preparations of various kinds. It is also possible to make infusions to drink combined with other herbs that promote its precious virtues.
